Jousting
2026-09-25
On this episode of Ordinary Observations Jack is once again joined by long term friend of the show Manoj, this time to discuss the history of Jousting. We take a look at how the sport of jousting came to be, the role it played in knightly life during the Late Middle Ages, and discuss the particulars of what makes one a decent jouster. We discuss the rulebook, we make some critiques on the fashion, and most importantly we talk about big strong horses. Following all that we also take a detour into the story of Henry XIII and learn how jousting really ruined his life (and subsequently many of those near to him). Listen in for all that and a bunch of laughs this time on Ordinary Observations. Hosts: Jack Williamson & Manoj Ramesh
